Election special

With elections just round the corner in TN, I would like to get first hand information from my fellow bloggers as I'm an NRI.

I get to watch only SUN TV here, which we all know is biased. Their silly ads r just irritating! Anycase they gotta do their bit of canvassing. I also heard of a new party started by IITians called Lok paritran. And what is our Amma's strategy?

Pls do keep me updated on every little thing from a common man's perspective, from now on until the results r out - right from the riots, celebs, kalla votes, campaigns, media hype, people's views etc etc.

Waiting to hear them allllllll............
Thanks :)

This Lok Paritran is indeed a refreshing entry to the elections this time. They are having good support among students and the youth.

and shanthi is right. there is a provision in the Representation of People Act wherein u can register a "No Vote", which simply means u dont want to vote for anyone. However, it is not the same as a "negative vote" which is available in some countries whereby u can reject certain candidates!

Not understanding much about your voting process. One thing seems familiar though....... We too hear all kinds of vague promises from our candidates, and wonder what can be believed. Many people have taken to voting not for the one they support, but for the one they feel is the lesser of two evils.

What makes me nuts is the HUGE amount of money people spend on these campaigns. I wish one of them would adapt the stategy that they were going to spend one quarter of what they are allowed on the campaign, and give the other three quarters to charity. I would vote for that person in a heart beat. Not only would the money go to good use, I wouldn't have to hear all the slanted truths for months and months before voting day. Towards the end of an election, I get so tired of it, I keep my remote with me and turn the channel, or hit the mute button when they come on.

    Any particular reason for that?

    Patty,

What irritates me most is all the hype about Lok Paritran.
Very inspiring - group of IITians throwing away their jobs and all, but doesn't appeal to me! :|

On the other hand, it's good entertainment to see Vaiko and TR and Napoleon firing words like bullets! Love the campaigning by Napoleon! The highlight was the song he sang towards the end! :D

    Mukund,
Mothala free ticket kidaikatum, aparama kalla votu pathi yosikalam!! ;p

    Swas,
I guess its just a hope that Lok Paritran wud do something good as they r new & educated bunch. On the other side, I think politics (esp in our country) is a dirty game...so v never know. Only time can answer that for us.

Is TR doing it in the same cinema style with all rhyming words et all?! LOL!

What did Napoleon sing? I vaguely remember seeing something in SUN TV. Did he sing it during his interview in the TV? (It was all against Amma isnt it?)

amma has now announced free computers to all students who pass class 12!! and sun tv is showing videos of MKs arrest in 2001 just to "refresh" people's memory before the election!

  • At 4:49 PM, Blogger swas said…

Do you think TR can be thiruthified? :|

Napoleon of couorse!! May Yettu, Amma(he actually said the name here) thalaila kuttu!!

    Hahaha!! Hilarious!

  • At 10:15 AM, Blogger Has to be me said…

    Mukund,
Yes I saw that clipping been show on SUN TV reminding us abt MK's arrest! Initially I was wondering whats happened to MK just during the election?! And then I realised they were trying to brush our memory on the same! Gosh what all they come up thru the media!

BTW, tell me something....all these promises on the computers, TV's, gas, rice etc etc etc....where r they getting all the money from? Is it going to be the official (or unofficial) party's money or the tax payer's money?

    Swas,
That was funny...I can imagine him singing the same! What levels they stoop to!

  • At 11:17 AM, Blogger Mukund said…

none of these promises will be implemented!! according to reports this is what MK told in an interview when asked abt the promises - "ukkarradukku dhaan idellam, ukkanda apparam naanga vera edavadu pannuvom"!! doesn't that say it all?? and going by reports, the wily old crook is likely to be back for one last hurrah as CM!!!

and by the way, TR now calls himself Vijaya T. Rajendar!!!

  • At 12:09 PM, Blogger Mukund said…

by the way, naan votu pottachu!! neenga kalla votu poda varaliye :p
