Reel vs Real

This post is specially for s0ul :)

In my previous post Mushy Crushy most people had referred to their crushes to be the filmy heroes. So I thot I shall share my secret of who used to be my favourite film hero. Please remember I didnt have a crush on him....but thot he was just a gr8 super hero . And remember - laugh as much as u can cos I know it will be way tooooooooo funny but don't curse me!!! ;p

I used to be so damn crazy about M G Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR from about 3 years till I was 5! And I seriously used to believe that this man could actually do all the stunts / fights as in the films & had all the magical powers in real life too! Hmm how I used to take the reel life to be real!! Gosh! And to tell u how crazy I was about him.....here's what I did when I was about 3 yrs old!

I had to be operated for tonsils & so my parents wanted to take me to the hospital & when I asked them the reason I was going to the hospital, they told me that we were going to see MGR!!! And I believed them!! :D And gladly went to the hospital & eventually into the operation theatre!!!

And again I must have been around 4-5 years old & I heard that MGR was contesting for the TN elections I used to frantically pray for him to win!!! * How crazy could I have been?* I wanted to vote for him but was v.disappointed to note that I wasnt allowed to vote. I went to the polling booth & insisted to my grandparents that they should vote only for him!!!

How I used to adore his fights & other fancy things he used to do! And used to feel so thrilled when the movie finishes on a happy note with MGR emerging victorious,& successfully bashing up the villians!

Slowly but thankfully it dawned on me that this was all only in the movies and wasnt the case in the real life! *Phew! What a relief!* :)))

So have u had any such silly episodes in life, which u laff about now?

I wasn't a big MGR fan, but one of my most powerful memories was watching his funeral procession on BBC when I was in London...I think I was 7 or 8 years old and was wondering at the power and draw of the man...

Ah, I digress...I remember when I was in New Delhi, my cousin sister was a big Suniel Shetty fan, and me and another cousin were Akshay Kumar fans, so we had fights and arguments whenever one or the other came on screen or their song came on the radio...hehehehe, still make fun of her to this day...

    WB mwahhhhhhhh!

MGR is one of mum's favs LOL! But I do watch his movies with her even now and I just laugh n laugh. When it's not even a comedy. Cos he does real super-hero kinda stunts. In one movie he swings from a rope in some circus style and as he does that he sings a song with so many emotions showing on his face - all this while hanging on a rope that could break and kill him instantly.

Anyways ur story was cute :) They got u to the operation theatre cos of MGR - thats great :):)

When I was lil I used to be in love with this actor in Sri Lanka. He was very popular. And I was abt 5. I used to cry whenever he danced with some girl. LOL!

    Keshi.

Well there is one thing I still laugh about. I'm the eldest daughter and as soon as my sister was born she was entirely different than me. She was fairer than me. Then when I was 8, I had a brother who looked exactly like my sister. My mom's sister (Chithi) playfully said, "See you don't look like both of them. Ur mom exchanged you from someone else. You are not their original daughter". I beleived it and even asked my mom whether I'm their daughter or not. I had this doubt for quite sometime. Even today when I see my Chithi, I just smile to myself.

i knew of a college mate who almost committed suicide when Jai shankar announced his marriage to Geeta (I think that was the name). Her friends kept a round the clock vigil on her.She came out of her madness to end her life but she never forgave the wife as long as she was in college.I was more impressed by Sivaji.

I think I had a crush on Vijayanthimala Bali...she did not act after I was born but still because of my dad. When I was 3 or so, he would bring all casettes of movies with Vijayanthimala and keep talking about her. What a case, huh?

Father and son having a crush on the same woman ! Funny! (I think my mom did something to end that! he he)
